WHISKY distillers the Grant Gordon family have topped this year's list of richest Scots with a fortune of £2.16 billion.
The family, who make a range of whiskies including the Glenfiddich range, increased their wealth by £10 million putting them in 49th place in this year's Sunday Times rich list.
Second place in Scotland and 60th overall is Mahdi Al-Tajir who lives in London, but has a large estate in Perthshire and owns the Highland Spring bottled water company. He is worth £1.735 billion.
Third in Scotland and 72nd in the UK is oil businessman Sir Ian Wood with a fortune of more than £1.4 billion. Best known for his work in the North Sea oil industry with the Wood Group Sir Ian, 73, has increased his wealth by £55m.
Other Scottish billionaires include Dundee-based publishing company DC Thomson with a wealth of £1.28 billion and the engineering entrepreneur Jim McColl, who is worth £1.07 billion.
The list also reveals that Sir Arnold Clark has become Britain's first billionaire car dealer after he increased his worth by £350m to £1.025 billion.
Overall there are 72 Scots in the annual list of the wealthiest 1,000 people including Philip Day, owner of the Dumfries and Galloway-based clothing firm the Edinburgh Woollen Mill. He enters the list after recording profits of £91.2m in 2014/15 with the overall business valued at just over £1 billion.

New entrants to the list include Formula One husband and wife team Toto and Susie Wolff, now worth an estimated £240m.
Former racing driving Toto Wolff is now executive director and 30 per cent owner of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team, boasting Lewis Hamilton, the current world champion, as lead driver. Former F1 test driver Mrs Wolff is from Oban.
Other Scots on the list include transport giants Sir Brian Souter and Ann Gloag, conference millionaire Lord Laidlaw, author JK Rowling, the Duke of Sutherland and entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter.
Elsewhere, Sir James Dyson - best known for inventing his vacuum cleaner and who is now trying to move into the car market - has seen a 43 per cent rise in wealth, making him the first self-made Briton to break the £5 billion barrier.

Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton is Britain's wealthiest sportsman, worth £106m, and England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney tops this year's list for young sportsmen in Britain - worth £82m.
Adele has been named as Britain's richest ever female musician with an £85m fortune - an increase of £35m compared to last year.
Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney topped the musicians list with an estimated £760m fortune - boosted by his American heiress wife's £150m stake in her family's US trucking business.

Britain's richest self made woman is Denise Coates - who turned a small chain of betting shops into the world's biggest online gambling firm - Bet365. She's now worth more than £3.7 billion.
