The victim of a road crash in Glasgow's South Side has been named. 

Francis Thomas Mooney died after his car was involved in a collision with a heavy agricultural vehicle which was towing a digger on Fernhill Road, Rutherglen on Tuesday. 

Tributes surrounded the area where the 60-year-old died as locals lay down flowers following the incident. 

Police say relatives are aware and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

The 25-year-old male driver of the agricultural vehicle remains at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where staff describe his condition as stable.

Five cars and a bus were also involved in the incident however nobody was seriously injured and none of the vehicles were badly damaged.

Sergeant Alison McAuley, from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell, said:“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of this tragic incident and I would continue to appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell on 101.”
