A Celtic fan has launched a Just Giving page to help Fenerbache buy Parkhead defender Efe Ambrose.

The fundraising page, set up by Andrew O'Donnell, has a target of £1.5m to cover the price tag Celtic have put on the player.

It says: "We're raising £1,500,000 to help Fenerbache raise £1.5m to take Efe Ambrose away from Celtic forever."

It was revealed in May that Ambrose is on the Turkish club's wanted list. However, the Celtic defender has said that he will wait and see what happens at the Rio Olympic's this summer before making a decision on his future.

The page has raised a smile among fans, with many asking how they can donate. However, so far, no donations have been received.

The fundraising appeal follows Celtic's shock 1-0 defeat to the Lincoln Red Imps last night.

The match, which was the squad's first under new manager Brendan Rodgers, has been described as the club's 'worst ever result'.

However, Rodgers said the result was not embarrassing.

He added: "There is obviously disappointment. We understand where we want to get to and what we want to achieve.

‘But there is no embarrassment. It was a tough game in tough conditions. We didn’t take our chances, they took their chance. The second leg will be different."
