With all the violence, drama and suspense in Netflix’s hit series Narcos, it’s sometimes easy to forget that Pablo Escobar was a real person, his children are still alive, and the story is based on real events.

Pablo’s son Sebastian Marroquin (formerly Juan Pablo Escobar) has had his say on the second season of the series – and it’s pretty damning.

Sebastian plugged his own book about his father’s life as he listed 28 inaccuracies in the Narcos script. Some of the errors can be chalked up to the show’s producers wanting to add more flavour to the story, but Sebastian doesn’t see it like that.

His first, and arguably largest, gripe with the show has to do with his uncle Carlos Henao.

Sebastian says he was not a drug dealer, as shown on screen, and had nothing to do with his father’s business. In fact, Sebastian says Carlos was a Bible seller.

Other issues have to do with his paternal grandmother, who he says was never around, unlike in the show where she appears in many scenes. Sebastian says Pablo’s mum was even secretly in contact and collaborating with the Cali Cartel, which seems like a missed opportunity for a great storyline.
