Gleneagles has teamed up with Scotland's top performing arts school to fund a new scholarship.

The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, in Glasgow, has announced the new partnership for a scholarship which will "provide significant support to enable an exceptional Music Masters student each year."

The hotel will also provide sponsorship of a range of performances, including shows at the Gleneagles ballroom and the City Halls in Glasgow.

The first recipient of the inaugural Gleneagles Scholarship will be revealed later this month.

The scholarship has been designed to provide financial support to an "exceptional young Scottish musician – enabling him or her to study at master’s level at the prestigious institution."

Bernard Murphy, managing director of Gleneagles, said: “The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland shares Gleneagles’ commitment to the pursuit of excellence and the nurturing of outstanding talent.

"Scottish higher education has made a positive impact on the world for centuries and, with this partnership, we look forward to making a positive impact on Scottish higher education in the years ahead."

Professor Jeffrey Sharkey, principal of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, said: "We’re excited at the potential this partnership has for our students and we look forward very much to the opportunities for the next generation of exceptional artists that we will create and deliver together.”

Joint event will include the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Gleneagles Gala Dinner, taking place in the hotel on Saturday 5 November.

The event will be a celebratory showcase of the special partnership between the two institutions and the world-class work of RCS students.

Another event, the Gleneagles Gala Concert featuring the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Symphony Orchestra, will take place in the City Halls in the spring.
