Animal health and welfare anomaly ‘unacceptable’

It is "unacceptable" that Scotland does not have responsibility for funding animal health and welfare, Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead has said.

The Scottish Government already determines animal welfare policy.

And a dozen meetings have taken place with the UK Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to try to reach a deal to devolve animal health and welfare funding.
