Cream of Scottish politics honoured at awards

Hugh Henry’s victory as Scottish Politician of the Year is a triumph not just for him but, given that it is the first time a backbencher has won the award, the Parliament as a whole.

In 12 years of The Herald awards, the top prize had always gone to either a senior Cabinet Minister or to the Presiding Officer, and only Ministers and Shadow Ministers have made it to past short-lists.
