Mark MacLachlan, 47, left Russell’s employment after his internet activities became apparent.
It is understood that officers from the Lothian and Borders force took the action in response to e-mails from the blogger to the Cabinet Minister.

Ex-aide in breach of peace charge
A former aide to Education Secretary Michael Russell who was behind a notorious political blog has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged breach of the peace.
