MacAskill in eye of Holyrood storm over Megrahi

A political storm generated by the over the release of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi has erupted around the SNP, with a growing US backlash against Scotland and pledges by opposition parties that the controversy will dominate the new political season.

The focal point of debate will be the specially-recalled session of the Scottish Parliament this afternoon, where Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill will recount his reasons for releasing the man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing on compassionate grounds.
