New blow to Tories as candidate quits

SCOTS Tory leader Annabel Goldie is facing yet another election setback as she prepares to launch the party’s Holyrood manifesto today after one of her candidates quit in disgust at the party’s failure to investigate vote-rigging allegations.

David Meikle, Glasgow’s only Tory councillor, withdrew from the city’s regional ballot for May’s election, claiming his complaints about a recent internal selection contest had been stonewalled by the party hierarchy.
