Plea for a clean break after Mandelson details infighting

Labour has been urged to move on from its self-indulgence after Lord Mandelson’s memoirs revealed that Tony Blair branded Gordon Brown “mad, bad, dangerous and beyond redemption” as their long-standing feud over the premiership reached boiling point.

Ahead of today’s publication of the memoirs, titled The Third Man, Andy Burnham, the shadow UK health secretary, who is competing to succeed Brown as party leader, made clear Labour had to leave all the factional in-fighting behind.
