Salmond’s advisers cast doubt on class sizes policy

The worst week in Alex ­Salmond’s career as First Minister nosedived further last night after his own team of high-level advisers questioned one of the party’s flagship policies.

The Scottish Government’s Council of Economic Advisers, chaired by former RBS head Sir George Mathewson, claimed it had evidence that reducing school class sizes has “a limited impact”.
