Salmond under fire over plans for teenage vote in referendum

Alex Salmond has defended himself against charges of desperate cynicism after he announced the Scottish Government planned to give 16 and 17-year-olds the vote in a referendum on Scottish independence.

The new policy emerged in a letter from Mike Russell, the Constitution Minister, to SNP backbencher Aileen Campbell.
