Sturgeon says sorry for letter and admits ‘I got some things wrong’

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has apologised to the Scottish Parliament and admitted she got “some things wrong” after sending a letter to a court pleading for a convicted fraudster not to be sent to jail.

Ms Sturgeon helped fend off Labour calls for her resignation by saying she regretted describing fraudster Abdul Rauf’s crime as a mistake in the note to a sheriff and insisted she had not meant to downplay the

seriousness of the crime he had committed.
