Swire urges Holyrood to hold inquiry into Megrahi

The reputation of Scottish justice has been “shot to pieces” because of the conviction of Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi for the Lockerbie atrocity, MSPs were told yesterday.

Dr Jim Swire, whose daughter was killed in the bombing of Pan Am flight 103, said the verdict was unsafe and the name of Scotland’s justice system was “in the gutter”.
