Tory old guard MSPs urged to make way for new blood

More than a quarter of Scotland’s Tory MSPs are under pressure to stand down at the next Holyrood election after the retirement of party veteran Bill Aitken.

The 63-year-old announced last week he would stand down in May after three terms as a list MSP for Glasgow.

His decision turned up the pressure on the party’s older MSPs, dubbed bed blockers, to do likewise.
