Additional stop planned

AN additional tram stop has been added to the tram route, extending its city centre ter-minus from St Andrew Square to York Place, after project managers said the benefits of attracting more passengers outweighed its cost.

A revised plan approved in the summer truncated the route by lopping off the city centre to Newhaven leg.

However, a turning loop had always been planned for York Place as there would be no room to turn a tram around at St Andrew Square, meaning the addition of a further stop would be relatively inexpensive as the track would already be there to service it.
