The action by nine members of the Plane Stupid group in an attempt to draw attention to the environmental impact of air travel cost firms at the airport £130,000, although the true bill is believed to be far higher after policing, court costs and delays to services were included.
They were fined between £300 and £700 each at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday after being earlier found guilty of breach of the peace.
A runway was temporarily closed by the protestors, who dressed in golf clothing or as Donald Trump after the tycoon backed an airport extension.
It was only called off when they were told incorrectly that they were delaying an ambulance taking a sick baby to hospital.
Dan Glass, 26, who was fined £600, said the outcome would not deter the group from further action in future. He said: “This climate court trial won’t be the last time. Our future and the health of every species is too important to leave it in the hands of the few.”
The fines, some of which will be paid at the rate of only £5 per week, provoked an angry response from politicians, one day after charges were dropped against nine activists arrested at the Royal Bank of Scotland protests in Edinburgh on Monday.
Labour Party justice spokesman Richard Baker said: “They can consider themselves very lucky they escaped with this considering the severity of their actions.
