Bid to keep Waverley afloat

A CAMPAIGN to save the world’s last sea-going paddle steamer will be launched next week after the company behind the Clyde-based Waverley said it would make its last sailing this year unless an urgent injection of funds could be found.

Waverley Excursions will undertake its first major public fundraising appeal since 1975 after a combination of rising fuel costs and uncertain weather over the past three summers left it struggling to stay afloat.
