High-speed rail link ‘based on over-optimistic assumptions’

The case for a high-speed rail line between London and Scotland is based on over-optimistic assumptions of passenger growth, opponents have said.

A report by campaign group HS2 Action Alliance has questioned Government forecasts that the number of people using trains on the southern end of the West Coast Main Line will increase 267% by 2033.
