SNP council leaves door open for Labour to revive rail link

An SNP-led local authority is attempting to prevent the Scottish Government’s final cancellation of the Glasgow Airport Rail Link (Garl) in case Labour gets into power next May and reinstates the mothballed project.

Councillors in Renfrewshire yesterday rejected a request by Government agency Transport Scotland to terminate a 2007 agreement that would allow for the airport branch line to be built over St James Playing Fields in Paisley.
