The climate comedown

For the last two weeks, three tall, thin, cloaked statues have stood, their carved faces staring towards the Bella conference centre in Copenhagen in a silent plea.

Today, if they could, they would be weeping.

After two years of fraught international negotiations, a week of organisational chaos and three long sleepless nights, the Copenhagen climate summit has failed to deliver an agreement.
