Tram row council in running for major UK award

AFTER a week in which Edinburgh made headlines around the world for all the wrong reasons, it was heartening to see some of its good work is being recognised.

That, at least, was the charitable reaction yesterday to news the Edinburgh City Council had been shortlisted as council of the year in a UK-wide competition that aims to promote excellence in local authorities.
