In the latest climbdown, council-owned company Transport Initiatives Edinburgh (Tie) is preparing to concede that an ongoing row with contractors has left its work rate far lower than expected and its completion date untenable.

Trams deadline is abandoned
Edinburgh’s tram developers have abandoned a commitment to delivering the project by 2012 and admitted its timescale will be pushed back further in the coming months.
