A PASSENGER plane bound for Glasgow has had to make an emergency landing after a holidaymaker fell ill on the flight.

The Thomson Airways flight was en route from Palma in Majorca tonight when it was diverted to Manchester as a "precautionary measure".

The incident was described as a "medical emergency", but it is unclear what had happened to the passenger on board.

The remaining passengers will continue on the Glasgow Airport later tonight.

The flight is now scheduled to land in Glasgow at 00:30am on April 13.

A spokesman for Thomson Airways said: “We would like to apologise for the inconvenience to customers on board flight TOM1239 from Palma to Glasgow, which has diverted to Manchester airport as a precautionary measure due to a medical emergency.”
