Glasgow Airport is to welcome four direct flights from South Korea this summer, bringing more than 1,000 tourists to Scotland.

Korean Air and tour operator Hanjin Travel have announced four inbound charter flights from the country's capital Seoul to Glasgow.

Using an Airbus A330 aircraft, the first service from Seoul will arrive in Glasgow on July 26, with the remaining three flights touching down throughout August.

As a result of the new flights, Glasgow will welcome more than 1,300 South Korean tourists.

The decision was made by the firms following last year's success of operating three charter flights to Glasgow from Seoul.

Steven Marshall, head of airline marketing and development at Glasgow Airport, said: "Their decision is a significant one and again underlines Scotland's global appeal as a tourist destination, and highlights the growth in demand we are experiencing from Asian tourist markets.

"We are looking forward to welcoming back Korean Air and Hanjin Travel, and to working with them once again to develop this charter programme further."
