EXPERTS have warned further work is needed to protect motorists on the A82 as the road was scheduled to reopen early this morning after a rock fall.

The road between Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit has been closed since Thursday, with drivers being forced to make a 120-mile diversion.

The Forestry Commission has now warned that measures put in place over the last three days are only a temporary measure, with further work needed at the site.

Alex McLeod, steep ground manager, said: "The immediate issue has been dealt with and made safe.

"However, during a final inspection it was clear that there are other areas of concern."
