BMI said it was pulling out of Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham airports following a comprehensive review of operations, just a year after it launched as a fully independent airline. The decision leaves Aberdeen as its only Scottish hub.
A total of five routes, including services from Edinburgh to Copenhagen and Brussels, will be cut. The Edinburgh flights will both stop on January 5 next year. Passengers booked on flights beyond that date will be contacted by BMI and offered an alternative flight or a refund. A spokesman for BMI Regional said: "BMI Regional is to focus on routes elsewhere in Scotland and in other parts of the UK and Europe."
