EDINBURGH'S public transport network will suffer irreparable long-term damage if a closure of Princes Street for up to 10 months to allow for repairs to tram tracks goes ahead, a leading bus industry group has warned.

The Confederation of Passenger Transport, which represents more than 1000 bus and coach companies across the UK, warned passengers could be turned away from public transport for good due to the delays incurred as vehicles are diverted away from one of Scotland’s busiest bus corridors.
