A BUS company has become the first regional operator in Scotland to comply with accessibility standards for blind and partially-sighted customers.

Lothian Buses have signed the accessibility charter set by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

The charity says the charter contains commitments that blind and partially sighted people want bus operators to make to improve their services.

Ian Craig, chief executive of Transport for Edinburgh, said: "We are determined to play our part in breaking down barriers that prevent people from travelling.

"All of our buses are low-floor easy access and our newest buses all have next-stop information announcements on screen and in audio.
