MOTORISTS using Scotland's longest trunk road are facing disruption until early January as dualling work progresses on a section of the A9 between Birnam and the Tay Crossing, Perth and Kinross.

Traffic restrictions will be implemented from Wednesday, October 1, with the work expected to take 15 weeks to complete, finishing in early 2015. No work will be carried out over the Christmas and New Year period.

Ground investigation work will also take place on a separate section of the A9 between Kincraig and Dalraddy, just south of Aviemore, the first part part of the route due to be dualled, from October 1 to October 12.

Traffic management arrangements will include contra-flow sections with temporary traffic signals.

Transport Scotland, the Scottish Government agency in charge of delivering the project, said it apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused and thanks road users and local communities for their patience.
