Jobs hope as easyJet expands operation at airport

AIR passengers will see five new European routes launched from Edinburgh next January after easyJet announced it would base two extra aircraft at the capital, securing its position as the biggest airline operating in Scotland.

The expansion is a major boost for Edinburgh, which has undergone a recent cut in the number of flights operated by low-cost airline Ryanair.

It will take the total number of aircraft based at the airport to seven and see the total route network expanded to 29 destinations, double the number available from Glasgow, and create around 100 jobs, the airline said.
