Landslide patrols for Rest and Be Thankful

PATROLS of the A83 at the Rest and Be Thankful will take place over the weekend to look out for further landslides after the Argyll road was re-opened to traffic yesterday.

The route was closed for the fourth time in five years by a landslip on Wednesday, which dislodged around 30 to 50 tonnes of material, though none of it reached the carriageway.

Following an inspection at first light, engineers deemed it safe to re-open the road, though a tension crack above the location of the landslip was "still showing signs of movement".
