ABERDEEN airport has had its busiest October for five years, with Glasgow also benefiting from travellers jetting off during the school holidays, but the slump at Edinburgh continues.

Aberdeen airport handled 316,666 passengers last month, an increase of 11.3% compared with the same period last year. Meanwhile, almost 700,000 passengers passed through Glasgow airport, a 4.6% rise on last October's figure.

Some 844,000 people travelled through Edinburgh airport in October, a drop of 2.8% on the previous year.

Domestic passengers made up 405,000 of those using the airport, which was a decline of 0.6%, while international travellers accounted for 439,000 of the total, down 4.7%.
