PURCHASES of new cars have recovered significantly since the start of Britain's economic crisis in 2008 but remain lower than a decade earlier, figures show.
More than 600,000 vehicles were registered for the first time between April and June, an increase of nearly 4% on the same period last year and the fourth consecutive quarter they have been up, according to the Department for Transport.
