Petrol prices are falling in the UK, but not as fast as some across mainland Europe, the AA has said.

The pre-tax cost of petrol in the UK fell 2.7 per cent between July 7 and August 11 this year, compared with falls of more than six per cent in Holland and Belgium, five per cent in France and 3.6 per cent in Germany.

It revealed that the average price of petrol in the UK in mid-August was 129.72p a litre, which was 1.89p a litre lower than in mid-July and was very close to the three-year low of 129.18p, set on February 10.
