Fifteen of the 20 direct trains from Inverness to Glasgow and Edinburgh will be accelerated by up to 17 minutes, though four of the services will take up to four minutes longer.
The train operator will introduce extra stops at Portlethen, Laurencekirk, Broughty Ferry and Invergowrie on the Aberdeen to Glasgow/Edinburgh route.
