Union concerns over flights ban

OIL and gas workers face "unprecedented" disruption from a flights ban implemented after a Super Puma helicopter ditched in the North Sea last week, a union leader has claimed.

Jake Molloy, head of the offshore section of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union, said it could take weeks to resolve safety concerns amid a split between UK and European aviation regulatory bodies.

He was speaking as 87 staff were transported by boat from a rig operated by Talisman Energy due to the shortage of helicopter flights to Aberdeen.
