VIRGIN Trains is to run an extra two services a day between Glasgow and London from December, plugging gaps in an otherwise hourly timetable.
The announcement came as it emerged faults in the process of renewing the rail franchise had been spotted last year.
The operator ran extra services during the Olympics, fulfilling a long-standing ambition of business groups and tourism agencies intended to make these a permanent feature of the timetable.
