Syria's president Bashar al Assad has said he needs more time to win the civil war raging in his country.
The remark, in a TV interview, is a sign Mr Assad's regime may be preparing for a drawn out struggle against rebels on a multitude of fronts.
These include Damascus, the capital and Mr Assad's seat of power; Aleppo, the nation's largest city, and other cities and towns.
