BASEL:

Activists have piled some eight million five-centime pieces, one for each habitant in Switzerland, in the safe room of the Basler Volksbank bank building, in Basel, Switzerland.

The activists representing the "Generation Basic Income" initiative plan to dump the 15 tonnes of money in front of the parliament building in Bern, the capital of Switzerland.

The campaign group, which started in Basel, has spread to many other cantons. It presents an unconditional basic income as a basic civil right.
