Coins hoard at Crusades site

HERZLIYA: A 1000-year-old hoard of gold coins has been unearthed at a Crusades battleground in the Holy Land, Israeli archaeologists said yesterday.

The 108 coins were dug up from the ruins of a castle in Arsuf, nine miles from Tel Aviv. It was the site of a 12th-century victory for Richard the Lionheart over Muslim leader Saladin.
