Egypt rejects IMF funding option

CAIRO: Egypt rejected any suggestion of stop-gap IMF funding to help it through economic crisis, saying only structural measures agreed as part of a package can tackle the country's soaring deficit.

As President Mohamed Mursi struggles to stop violent protests, new figures released yesterday showed a jump in inflation.
