Kenya's defeated presidential contender, Raila Odinga, filed a legal challenge over his election loss yesterday in a major test of the country's democratic system five years after a disputed vote triggered deadly tribal clashes.
Police used teargas to break up a rally of about 100 of Odinga's supporters outside the Supreme Court earlier in the day. He called on his allies to stay calm and trust in the law to resolve his complaint.
Lawyers said the petition to the Supreme Court includes allegations of vote manipulation and problems with voter registration.
