Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other men accused of plotting the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the US appeared at a military tribunal at Guantanamo Bay yesterday to hear charges brought against them.

The five face a total of seven charges in relation to the attacks in 2001. The men are due to stand trial at Guantanamo later this year.

An earlier attempt to try the men was halted in 2009 when President Barack Obama tried to shut the camp down. New rules have since been introduced, including a ban on evidence obtained under torture.
