Funeral held for 'Moonies' founder

Tens of thousands of tearful mourners have gathered for the funeral of the Rev Sun Myung Moon, the founder of the controversial Unification Church.

Moon, the self-proclaimed messiah best known for conducting mass weddings in his efforts to build a multi-cultural world, died at 92 on September 3.

His funeral was held in Gapyeong County, northeast of Seoul. His church has been accused of brainwashing recruits and duping them out of money, but followers believe Moon was given the task of completing Jesus Christ's work.
