Ghostbusters actor Harold Ramis has died aged 69, his lawyer has said.

Ramis died early on Monday morning from complications of autoimmune inflammatory disease, he said.

The actor is best known for his roles in comedy movies Ghostbusters and Stripes.

Ramis co-wrote Ghostbusters, in which he appeared alongside Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray.

He also co-wrote National Lampoon's Animal House and Meatballs and directed such films as Caddyshack and Groundhog Day.
