At least three people were killed in two explosions in Kenya's port city of Mombasa late yesterday, witnesses and local media said.

One of the blasts occurred at a busy bus terminal, known as Mwembe Tayari, where a device inside a minibus killed three people. A second blast was heard at the Reef Hotel at Nyali Beach on the Indian Ocean coastline, though no casualties were reported there.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but similar attacks have been blamed on the al-Qaeda-linked Somali group al-Shabaab.
