Moscow's most wanted man dead


Russia's Federal Security Service said yesterday it had killed Moscow's most wanted man, Islamist insurgency leader Doku Umarov. A website sympathetic to the insurgency said on March 18 that Umarov was dead but the Russian authorities had not confirmed this. Umarov's organisation says it was behind attacks in Moscow that killed 77 people.
