Netanyahu makes appeal for support

JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attempted yesterday to hold back an opinion-poll surge by a far-right party, appealing in rare radio interviews for his supporters to stand by him in the January 22 poll.

Surveys have shown that the Bayit Yehudi party is chipping away at Mr Netanyahu's strong lead.
